Alaska Collection Interest Rates



Alaska Legal Rate: 10.5% five percentage points above the annual rate charged member banks for advances by the 12th Federal Reserve District. Contract or loan commitments in which the principal amount exceeds $25,000 are exempt.
Corporate Rate: No special rate
Judgment: 3% above the 12th Federal Reserve District discount rate in effect on January 2 of the year in which the judgment is entered in Alaska. An Alaska Judgment or decree based on a written contract may allow up to a ceiling of 10.5% on a Judgment.
Usury % Cap: 10.5%

An Alaska commercial collection agency can only charge interest at the rates above.

Alaska requires a 15 Day written demand notice for the face amount of the check plus a maximum $30 fee. If not paid within 15 days, the debtor is liable for three times the face amount of the check or $100.00, whichever is greater. Damages recovered may not exceed the amount of the check by more than $1,000.
